Michael Rubin is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he specializes in Middle Eastern countries, particularly Iran and Turkey. His career includes time as a Pentagon official, with field experiences in Iran, Yemen, and Iraq, as well as engagements with the Taliban prior to 9/11. Mr. Rubin has also contributed to military education, teaching U.S. Navy and Marine units about regional conflicts and terrorism. His scholarly work includes several key publications, such as “Dancing with the Devil” and “Eternal Iran.” Rubin earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in history and a B.S. in biology from Yale University.

Episode #053 - A Conversation with Senator Marsha Blackburn

We were thrilled and grateful to have Senator Marsha Blackburn join us on May 2, 2024 for her first appearance on JRA LoudSpeaker. We were impressed by her wide breadth knowledge on so many topics facing our country, along with her steadfast support for Israel, the Jewish people, and the American people. She was incredibly articulate and is doing so much on Capital Hill to fight against the astonishing rise in anti-semitism across our nation and on college campuses, and is a strong beacon of hope in Washington, and her home state of Tennessee, as she continues to be a champion of the Judeo-Christian values our beloved country was founded upon.
When Marsha was 16 years old, she had her first job working at a dress shop. She went to college on a 4-H scholarship and went on to sell educational books door to door for the Southwestern company. It was then that she began developing her exceptional work ethic, which has become a staple of her career. Along the way, she learned there’s no substitute for ringing someone’s doorbell and listening to what they have to say, a lesson—and practice—she carries with her to this day.
When Marsha was 16 years old, she had her first job working at a dress shop. She went to college on a 4-H scholarship and went on to sell educational books door to door for the Southwestern company. It was then that she began developing her exceptional work ethic, which has become a staple of her career. While serving in the Tennessee Senate, Marsha led a statewide grassroots campaign to defeat a proposed state income tax. While defeating the tax, she quickly became known as a champion of anti-tax and government accountability issues. Taking to the airwaves, Marsha made the case that the government wrongly believes it never gets enough of the taxpayer’s paycheck.
In the U.S. Senate, Marsha is working to straighten up the mess in Washington and remind the Senate that it serves you. It is time for Congress to fulfill its promises to the people of Tennessee.
In the Senate, Marsha is fighting to:
- Hold big tech accountable
- Bring significant tax relief to hard-working Tennesseans
- Cut wasteful spending
- Keep our promises to our veterans and to those who defend our freedoms

We were thrilled and grateful to have an incredible guest panel with Michael Pipes, Gregg Roman, and Dr. Michael Rubin from the Middle East Forum join us live on March 6, 2024 for their first appearance on JRA LoudSpeaker. Those who watched our show were notable impressed by each person’s expert analysis, knowledge, and perspectives on Iran, Turkey and Qatar. Their insights and expertise not only enriched the discussion, but also played a crucial role in educating our members and guests about the complexities and challenges in the Middle East. Their ability to explain complex issues into understandable concepts has left, and will continue to leave, a lasting impression on us all.
Daniel Pipes is president and founder of the Middle East Forum and a historian. A columnist for The Washington Times, his special interests include the public role of Islam, Turkey, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the liberal-conservative divide. He recently finished a book titled "Israel Victory: How Zionists Win Acceptance and Palestinians Get Liberated." Mr. Pipes has taught Middle Eastern and world history at Harvard University and the University of Chicago, and served on the Policy Planning Council under President Reagan.
Gregg Roman functions as the chief operations officer for the Middle East Forum, responsible for day-to-day management, communications, and financial resource development. Mr. Roman previously served as director of the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. In 2014, he was named one of the ten most inspiring global Jewish leaders by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. He previously served as the political advisor to the deputy foreign minister of Israel and worked for the Israeli Ministry of Defense. He attended American University in Washington, D.C., and the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Israel, where he studied national security studies and political communications.
Dr. Michael Rubin is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC and director of policy analysis at the Middle East Forum. For the past decade, he has also worked as a contract Persian language analyst for the U.S. Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rubin received a B.S. degree in biology from Yale University in 1994, and a Ph.D. in history from the same institution in 1999. He contributed affidavits to or served as an expert witness in court cases involving Hezbollah money laundering, Iranian terrorism, and internal Iraqi security. He is the author of six books, several dozen book chapters, and is the author of more than two thousand opinion essays and articles in U.S. newspapers.

Episode #051: Supporting Kids by Fighting Teacher's Unions: A Conversation with Rebecca Friedrichs

We were thrilled and grateful to have Rebecca Friedrichs join us again live on February 9, 2024 for her second appearance on JRA LoudSpeaker. Rebecca Friedrichs is part of a movement to restore the voices and authority of parents and teachers in America's schools.
As a twenty-eight-year public school teacher, she was forced to fund unions whose politics and divisive tactics degraded her profession, our schools, and our national character.
Her lawsuit, Friedrichs v California Teachers' Association, brought with ten other teachers, was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in January 2016, and blazed the trail for ending forced unionism for all teachers and government employees in the United States.
Her book, Standing Up to Goliath, is Rebecca’s expose of corrupt and abusive unions. And she’s a producer of the documentary "Whose Children are they?".
Rebecca and her husband Charles, founded For Kids and Country through which they educate and empower Americans to abandon unions so we can restore our republic.
Rebecca’s editorials can be found in outlets nationwide. She appears regularly on radio and television. She’s a Prager University host and she was the second speaker on the opening night of the 2020 Republican National Convention.

Kurt Schlichter (X: @KurtSchlichter) was personally recruited to write conservative commentary by Andrew Breitbart. He is a name partner at a growing Los Angeles trial law firm, a retired Army Infantry colonel with a masters in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College, and a former stand-up comic.
He is a frequent guest on Fox News, Fox Business News, appears on air with such luminaries as Hugh Hewitt & Sebastian Gorka, and is best-selling author or many fiction and nonfiction books.
As an Army officer, he commanded a cavalry recon squadron, and served in Desert Storm and Kosovo as well as multiple disaster operations. He lives in the South Bay area of L. A. where his hobbies include red meat and red wine.
